TEHRAN National tennis team of Iran crushed the representative of Qatar Wednesday in its first fight in Asia-Pacific zone's Group 3 of Davis Cup.

Playing on the courts of Tehran's Enqelab Sports Complex, the Iranian side managed to defeat the team of Qatar 3-0. In singles, Anousha Shahqoli of Iran beat his Qatari opponent, Sultan Khalfan al-Albi, 2-0 and Akbar Taheri, also an Iranian tennis player, won his clash 2-0 against the Qatari participant, Nasser Ghanim al-Khalfi, IRNA reported. In doubles, Taheri and Ashkan Shokoufi of Iran whitewashed the team of Qatar 2-nil. Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Singapore, Pacific Islands, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Tajikistan are the teams that are competing in the Asia-Pacific zone's Group 3 of Davis Cup.
